Norway Rats

Norway Rats (Brown Rat, Sewer Rat) are the most common wildlife nuisance in the DFW. From White Rock Lake to Southlake, Norway rats wreak havoc on homes, degrade attic insulation, and destroy attic cleanliness. Rats are nocturnal and most homeowners report scratching, squeaking, or pitter patter in the attic late at night.

Roof Rats (Black Rats) are native to the Southern US. Commonly found living with Norway Rats, Roof rats are smaller in size and less aggressive than their larger counter parts.

Squirrels are diurnal (day-time) and mostly make their presence known in the early morning hours and late afternoon. Typical squirrel activity is reported as bouncing around the attic, scratching and gnawing sounds, as well as chirping noises.

Opossums are commonly found in attics and crawl spaces across the metroplex. Opossum activity is frequently reported as slow, heavy movement in the attic as well as sounds of dragging on the ceilings.

Raccoons are highly intelligent and destructive animals. Raccoons typically are found solo or in pairs but can be found in larger numbers in winter months. Raccoons are frequently reported as "Humans in the attic" with loud and dragging movements. Loud chirping can also be a sign of raccoons in the attic space.
